    68RFE Trans Help!

    Good morning, RAM addicts.

    I have a problem.

My tranny is periodically shifting hard and also not shifting from 5th to 6th gear.

It just happened this morning to me.

The last code thrown was P0871 Transducer.

I replaced that with a new one and installed an ATS thermal bypass valve upgrade about two weeks ago.

It ran fine for a while, and now it is back to its old shenanigans.

I am thinking of valve body, but I don't want to spend that money if it is the entire tranny that needs to be replaced.

Any help or experience on this issue would be very appreciated.

Also, the truck is deleted, 5-inch lift, running 38s/15.50 on 22s.

    Ram is a 2020 Laramie 6.7.

    Hello there.

I recommend finding a shop that can plug in a good scanner to read out real-time transmission values so you can ride around.

And see what is being called for vs actual.

Possible issues include the valve body or, potentially, the solenoid pack.

    The worst-case transmission is smoked.

Pull the dipstick to see what the fluid looks like and if it smells burnt.

Fingers crossed, it's just one of the lesser good luck.

    Thanks.

Yes, I was thinking of either the valve body, solenoid, or both.

Do you think it is worth upgrading to the RevMax valve body?

I have no personal experience with the RevMax, but it seems to be highly regarded as a part.

I've also heard of "Randy's" Valve Bodies being great as well.

I've been doing some research as I'm going to do a VB soon.

From what I've seen, you can't go wrong with a RevMax or a Randys Valve Body.

Before spending money, it's important to rule out possible issues first.

Scan tool from a reliable shop, or you will narrow down the issue.

I have gone down the route too many times and still do, LOL.

    Thanks.

    I will try that.

If I had my truck deleted and tuned, does that mean the tranny is tuned or just the motor?

    Re: 68RFE Trans Help!

Most likely, they would have also done some transmission tuning.

First, I would do the scanner get a readout.

I can't say whether or not it is a VB or solenoid pack.

I know more about the engine and other parts of the vehicle, and I am more of a Chevy than anything else.

I, too, have chased a problem, and it got very, very $ due to no one having any ideas.

I have no personal experience with RevMax or Randy's yet.

I did place an order for a new 750 series last week.

So hopefully, in a month, I'll have a good input for them.

    Thanks, Corkey.

If you know anything about tunes when a truck is deleted, is it the tranny that is tuned or the motor?
