    OEM Mopar Factory Rustproofing

Just curious how many members used Mopar factory rustproofing years ago.

I don't know if they still offer it, but on my carfax when I got this truck, it was done in 2016 from the factory, I believe.

There isn't a spec of rust on this truck with just over 100k on the clock.

I am very impressed with it and highly recommend it if they still offer it.

If not, I added Amsoil heavy-duty metal protector over it, and that stuff seems good too.

The cans go a long way, and three cans did my underside.

The only thing kind of annoying with the Amsoil is it can attract a little dirt as I live on a dirt road.

I will attach some pics of when I did my exhaust to see them underneath.

Now the brown color stuff on the body is the Amsoil product.

By far, the factory rust stuff from Mopar is incredible.

My go-to is a fluid film and wool wax.

A soil is a good stuff.

I would never use a complex undercoating product, only the stuff that can creep into crevices.

Yeah, I never realized how well any undercarriage treatments worked until I got this truck.

How long do you think the Amsoil stuff lasts?

Wondering if I should make it a yearly thing for added protection.

Yearly if blasted by spray from tires and such.

Interior of panels is usually good with 1 thorough treatment with touch ups on exposed metal yearly.

Again, I recommend for and wool wax as they end up cheaper if bought in bulk, plus you’ll have it to do other vehicles.

I had a few 1st and 2nd gens with a leaking CCV extended hose that was great at keeping the rust away.

But as another member stated, I've been using a fluid film on all trucks and cars for many years.

2 times a year, power wash and spray it.

Great for those around salt or, like me, crushed pumice lava rock during winter.

I have even started using it on a new Stihl brush cutter and under the deck of a lawn mower.

After use, hit it with a hose, and all build-up comes right off.

A friend of mine uses it with a sprayer on a significant section of his vinyl fence.

The build-up of green slime doesn't happen.

Also, on the doors of vehicles, pull the drain plugs or clean any blockage so the moisture can drain out of doors.

I’ve used it for about 5 years now and have had great results.

It’s amazing for the bottom of a trailer; the underside of the wood deck still looks new other than the road it collected.

Hell, I’m about to power wash and spray my split rail fence with it; it might help that moss/green build-up.

    Glad you mentioned trailers.

I may spray my dump trailer underneath.

The Amsoil stuff I used is holding up well.

The only thing I don't like is that it has a layer of dust underneath.

So fluid film doesn't attract dust?

Oh no, it 100% does; basically the same as every other oil spray.

If you spray and do not spray heavy, allow it to dry on a warm day.

Then spray a 2nd time and allow to completely dry.

When I do this, road dirt dust.

It will initially stick, but it washes right off with a garden hose.

Fluid film is a lanolin-based spray.

Yeah sounds like what I deal with right now.

I mean, the Amsoil stuff ain't too bad, I guess.

After all, I live on a dirt road on a mountain that goes for miles.

A little dust doesn't hurt anything and at least it does not rust, right?
