I don't remember what I paid before, but that seems a little high, maybe.

I was wondering if there are any recommendations for a similar alternative.

If I have to spend that much per tire, then I will.

They were always a perfect tire.

They completely outperformed Nitto and Toyo regarding drivability, and this was my first set of coopers.

However, if there are any suggestions for a possible alternative brand that performs similarly, I would be open to hearing about them.
I'm curious as to which Nittos you were running.

I run Cooper tires on my off-road rig and love them can't get away from the dependability Nitto has always given me on my tow rigs.

I tried the Wildpeaks for 3k miles on my dually and yanked them off as soon as I got home.

The sidewalls flexed too much for the weights I towed, and it wasn't fun.

I returned with the Ridge Grapple, and all was right in the world.

This time on my 2500, I went with the Recon Grapples only have about 100 miles on them, so the jury is still out, but they feel very stable, like the Ridge.

I'm not turning this into a fanboy thread; I'm a tire geek, so I'd love to hear what you didn't like about the Toyos and Nittos.

I almost did the Toyos; this time can't seem to get away from the Nittos.

    I like them that much.

I have had both Nitto and Toyo’s.

They have great tires until the tread wears halfway down, then they get slick, like driving on wet leaves on the pavement.

That’s been my experience with them, and I went thru 3 sets over the years.

I love the Wildpeaks on my truck—excellent traction in snow.

I never had any issue towing with them, either.

I know the ones I have now have a 55,000 mi warranty, and I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten that sort of life out of them.

Just curious, before I go spending another 2000 on a set of tires, if the opportunity exists for me to somehow benefit from that warranty

Also, given the brief information I may have gleaned from the internet, it might be worth noting that my tires are not evenly worn.

For some reason, the right tire has more additional wear than the other three, perhaps from an alignment issue, but I'm not optimistic.

I'm not sure if the fact that one tire is unevenly worn would not make a warranty applicable since it may be indicative of lacking maintenance.

It's useless in "most" cases when dealing with the manufacturer unless you buy a "warranty guarantee" from a chain store.

My wife had a sidewall blow out on a steer tire (BFG), and they (BFG) said there was nothing they could do.

I must have had a unique case, or the place I go to (Discount Tire) is good because I just replaced the other two tires for $399.

So that's $399 for the front two and $371 for the back two, installed out the door.

So I would say that the mileage warranty is not useless in my particular scenario.

At this point, I have a brand new set of 35-in Cooper tires for under $800, so zero complaints from me.

Also, a blowout has nothing to do with a mileage warranty.

Mileage warranty, as I refer to it, is specifically related to tire wear down past the wear point before the manufacturer intends it to.

Blowouts would be a roadside hazard, certificate, etc.

Completely different than my use, unfortunately.

    Yep, I wouldn't complain either.

Just curious, did you purchase the replacement warranty when you bought the set that went bad?

I didn't purchase any replacement warranty.

It's the manufacturer's 55,000-mile warranty that accompanies the tire.

The tires wore past the wear point at 20,000 miles, so they were replaced with a discount of 25,000 miles, a bit more discount than half off each tire.

Again, I'm not referring to the roadside/hazard warranty covering a blowout.

I'm referring specifically to the mileage warranty that comes with the tire from the manufacturer that the retailer has to honor.

I didn't pay anything extra for any additional sorts of coverage.
