2021 3500 RAM Crew Cab - Turbo Lag?

So not shopping, but I saw a 2021 3500 RAM Crew Cab and couldn't help myself.

It was a nice truck, not my Longhorn, but close as I took it for a test drive.

It is a Cummins HO with Aisin transmission 3.73.

I first notice that I hammer the throttle, and the turbo lag is extreme!

My 04.5 turbo Lag wasn't this bad.

I headed up the road and shifted smoothly as silk; throttle response was decent once moving, but I have to say my 3.42 gear 2017 feels alot more powerful.

Is this normal for the 2021 w Aisen?

I was let down by power.

The truck drove and rode great.

    I just expected more.

I don't have an H.O., but I have an '09 3500 mega cab and a '20 2500 crew cab, both with 3.73 gears, and there is a noticeable difference.

The '09 spools quicker and pulls better in the lower rpm range.

The '20 doesn't spool quite as quickly, but when it does, it hits harder.

I learned to keep the RPMs slightly higher when I tow with the '20.

    The difference between my 2017 2500 with 3:42’s and the 21 3500 DRW H.O.

At 4:10’s was night and day—21 wins, hands down.

It really shines 3rd gear and up and when towing heavy.

2021 Ram 3500 DRW, H.O., bypass oil filtration, bypass coolant filtration, S&B CAI, 4:10’s
    2wd low loc kit.
Reacquired 2001 3500, 5.9 nv4500, dually cab and chassis, 5” straight pipe, edge juice w/attitude. Otherwise all stock…..for now.

The OFC controls in the newer ecms are pretty limiting.

    Basically, a black smoke limiter.

Iirc the HO uses less compression and more boost to make its larger numbers.

So the Banks Monster RAM and grid heater delete plate made more of a difference on my HO.

Alot of that lag was gone, and the driveability was better with the new horn.

For reference, I put one of the Banks kits on my 22 HO and 21 SO.
