    Long Drive Upcoming-Need Advise

    Greetings to you all.

    Here is my situation.

My truck is a 2012 3500, deleted, 6” lift 37” tires, with a broken H&S tuner on it that is stuck on the 150hp tune.

I have recently replaced the head with a brand new Choate o-ring head and a Cometic gasket, Xotic head studs, grid heater delete, and a pusher intake manifold.

My question is, I will be traveling about 4K miles shortly.

I want to take my baby. However, I don’t want to if this 150hp tune could be a problem going that distance.

My goal is to get MM3 and DRD tunes, but not quite able to at this time since I just paid for all of the other work that needed to be done first.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

    Jimbo

Are you going to be pulling anything with it?

I will not be pulling; I have some furniture in the bed.

    Nothing heavy, maybe 500-600 lbs.

Plus, the truck has a 68RFE trans.

Just keep an eye on your EGTs.

150 is not a good setting on a stock 68.

Hopefully, you can get the MM3 with the doctor's correct prescription.

    Have a safe trip.

That’s what I’m afraid of being the case.

    Thanks for the advice.

The monitor is straight trash and won’t power up, so I can’t change tunes or monitor the ECTs.

I may take my Rebel instead.

After paying six grand for everything already, the next time I want to put money into it is a DRD tune package, not trans work.

    Thanks again.

    Just saw your second post.

As mentioned, EGT and the trans.

If you have a stock trans, you may experience slip on the clutches.

With that setting, you'll want some goodies to convert the power properly.

I snapped my input shaft inside my converter with mid throttle going up a slight grade.

I had a hairline fracture somewhere on the shaft.

If I am thinking correctly, the 150hp duration is only at WOT.

Otherwise, you should see nothing different when driving, depending on your tranny tuning.

Cylinder pressure will be higher, but only at WOT, and you are studded, so you should be ok for this trip if you baby it.

I may be off, but it’s just my thinking.
