Thread: Heater Slow?

    Re: Heater Slow?

Here is an interesting update: I got into the truck today, and it is 74 out, so I turned on the air conditioning on full blast and barely felt anything.

I closed both passenger vents because my wife wasn't in the truck, and I felt a slight breeze from the driver-side vents.

Is it possible that my problem isn't a heater core and there is some airflow movement issue?

Would there be an airflow issue that impacted both heating and cooling?

I feel the airflow, but it is very gentle, even at full blast, with just the driver's side open.

It sounds very loud, but the actual airflow that I feel is much lighter than it sounds.

Additional note: it sounds much louder when the recirculate option is turned on, but airflow does not differ.

Also, the max AC option sounds just as loud, but there is still no difference in airflow

It sounds like the blend doors are not opening.

A common problem with our trucks.

Aren't the blend doors accessible by removing the glove box and they are a little flap that you can watch open and close as the actuator adjusts the temperature?

    Should be.

Also, do you have an HVAC filter installed?

If so, when was the last time it was changed?

@AK Bob, do you have any schematics on the blend doors you could share?

I did do a test of the actuator from fully open to fully closed watching the actuator move its entire path.

Also, I recently installed a Genos cabin air filter

Hmmm, I wonder if the cabin filter is causing a restriction of air flow?
Is the arrow on the filter for air flow pointed the right direction?

I want to say this has been happening before the filter installed, at least the heating definitely has been.

The filter is installed with the arrows pointing the same direction as the plastic air flow indicator on the cover.

I would pull the filter out and try to see if that makes any difference.
Also look up inside to see if anything could be blocking air flow.
If the blend doors are working and nothing is restricting then I don’t know what else to check?
Hopefully someone that’s had this issue can chime in and help.

I am going to try and drop the blower motor and see if I can physically feel for anything going on with the blend door. Saw a couple YouTube videos, I figured what could go wrong sticking my arm blindly into a dark space that has an actuator connected to it.

edit: I'll just check for the blend door lever to spin freely by removing the actuator, less to take apart I think
