Thread: Dealer Flashed Over My Tune - Need Help!

Dealer Flashed Over My Tune - Need Help!

I took my tuned 2017 RAM 2500, and the dealer overwrote my tune with a stock tune without asking.

I have an MM3 tuner with four tunes, and the trans tune also has EGR delete (unplugged), as everything else is stock.

The check engine light was on when I got into the truck and gave me an EGR error.

I also noticed the dealer plugged my EGR valve back in.

So, I'm wondering how to fix this mess, as I don't want to be without the tune.

It is fantastic; the truck has been tuned since it was new.

I'm wondering a few things: when the dealer flashed it to stock, did I lose my tunes on the chip?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure.

I do not have a copy of the tunes; it was on an old computer, and I don't have anymore.

Do I return to stock from the MM3 tuner with the EGR valve plugged in, and will that fix the error for the EGR?

On a side note, I need to get emissions tested if this does.

Lastly, can I reload the tunes?

Does anyone have the instructions for this?

I tuned the truck six years ago and misplaced the instructions.

    Thanks

If you have the tunes still on the tuner, which is the SD card, then reflash it, and you should be good to go.

You should be able to reflash your tunes back into your truck with the MM3.

Just ensure you have a battery tender hooked up and that the batteries are fully charged.

Dang, I think the techs would know better; they always care for me at my dealer.

You have a good dealer; when I took my 2020 in for the CP4 recall, they broke wiring clips, left greasy smudges all over the front fender, bumper, and grill, and didn't even tighten all the bolts.

They told me 6 hours for the work, and it took three days.

It is the only time the truck has seen the dealer, and my 2017 never went in.

Risam, my tech, with the help of everyone on this site.

    I agree about your tech.

I get more satisfaction and sleep better at night knowing I did everything.

I have the means and time, and I am blessed for that.
