    2008 6.7L Cummins - G56 Trans - Running Rough?

The truck is second-gen swapped with an S467.

I don't know if that matters, but I noticed that whenever I drive the truck high in the RPMs (like 2500), it will throw a P061A code.

Whenever this happens, and I let off the gas to shift, the truck instantly falls on its face.

I have to shift into neutral pretty quickly to avoid a slamming feel.

If I blip the throttle, it will gain rpm, but it chops, and if I rev it up usually, it is just fine.

The same thing happens if I rev the truck to do a launch.

Holding the truck at about 2300-2600 RPMS while in neutral also runs rough.

The tuner tried killing the code, and the problem still exists without the code.

She runs fine if I turn the truck off for a few seconds and start it back up.

If I flash the RaceME Ultra preset tunes into the ECM, this doesn't happen.

Another thing to note is that about a year ago before I had the RaceME Ultra or the custom tuning I had on the truck, an H&S Mini Max, the same thing happened while in cruise control, but it hasn't happened since.

Do you guys have any ideas?

I am not trying to make this post too lengthy, LOL.

I am unsure what could be causing my issue here and if you all have experienced this or heard of this before.

It sounds like it’s likely tuning-related.

Attached is some information on the P061A trouble code.

    Attached Files Attached Files
2014 RAM 3500 (Aisin) 3.73 4X4 Limited Crew Cab Long Bed DRW. Oil Bypass Filter, Fuel Filtration Kit, Cold Air Intake, City Diesel Actuator and 50 Gallon Aux Fuel Tank.

Would you know what kind of tuning issue it would be or what to look for?

I figured it would be something like that just because the RaceME tunes are not doing it.

    I know that's a long-shot question, though.

    Thanks for the response.

    You need “custom” tuning.

If you currently have “box” tuning, that is most likely causing the issue.

Usually, I recommend ruling out the possible causes of your trouble code, as listed in the previous attachment.

However, as you stated, with the RaceME tunes not throwing the code, it does sound like you have a tuning issue.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that, but I have custom tuning.

The problem doesn’t happen when I flash the box tunes in.

I and the tuner have been trying to figure out what’s going on with it, but it’s hard because, for some reason, my RaceME Ultra won’t take logs long enough.

It says I turned off my key (even though I didn’t).

I updated the tuner with no luck.

If I could figure that out, we’d be able to solve our problem much faster.

    Not sure, though.

Did your tuner use a Mopar stock file?

Are you hooked up to a battery charger while flashing?

I would run a data log to see what parameter goes out of wack for this to happen; that tends to be my go-to when erratic engine behavior happens.

It will either show you the issue or just possibly a faulty sensor.

Not sure if he did or not.

He said he could get the stock file from the VIN number.

And no, I’m not hooked up to a battery charger, but I flash the tune after driving the truck for a little while.

I’ve been sending him some HS logs, but for some reason, my Ultra will only take one for so long until it decides to say that I turned my key off.

I updated the RaceME, and still does it, so I'm not sure what that’s about.

If anyone wanted to know what was happening, the rail pressure fluctuated at that rpm for some reason.

Tuner made that stop, and I don't have the issue anymore.

It's weird because he hasn't had to do that on anyone else's truck.

I wonder if I have a problem with my truck.
