    Thump After Shock Tower Delete?

So, I ended up taking my level blocks off and doing a shock tower delete ( from FSD with Bilstein 5100 33-186504), and everywhere I checked, it says that’s the correct length for stock height, no tower.

But man, it is bottoming out badly over nasty bumps or uneven ground.

I thought it was the front bump stops and added a little grease to each perch to ensure it was making contact.

It doesn’t appear to be, but definitely, thuds are heard and felt.

In the cab. I installed new ball joints with an alignment, and everything is within specification.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

I know you say it doesn't look like it's making contact, but I figured I'd ask.

Also, check for sway bar drops, longer sway bar links, track bar drops, and anything that may have been installed to get a proper level.

Sitting on level ground, how much is the shock shaft exposed?

Your new shocks would seem super short, eliminating the tower.

    Thump After Shock Tower Delete?

I just got the OEM part number for the pump stops; I’ll check in the morning.

But there are only about three fingers of space between the bump stop and the axle perch; thank you!

I’ll have to measure it, be a bit difficult with the dust covers on, but these are supposed to be shorter than OEM

Re: Thump After Shock Tower Delete?

I have found the issue; this is the bolt on the upper control arm ( I assume that’s the term for it new to 4x4s).

Is there any reason I can’t flip the bolt around to gain clearance?

And why is it so close on this side but has miles of clearance on the passage?

    Thank you!

Take some pictures further back in general so we can see if you have something else causing this issue.

I agree that the bolt is hitting.

I want to make sure there's no other reason as to why.

I’m assuming that bolt is mounted horizontally on the truck?

It’s hard to tell what it’s bolted to and what it’s hitting being so close up.

If one bolt has clearance and this side doesn’t, I would assume your axle is sitting slightly diagonal or off-centered under the truck, depending on what it’s mounted to, etc.
