After further investigation, the truck at one point had a large lift kit installed, and both upper control arm bolts were reinstalled backward; they should have been fed bolt head in, nut out, according to all data.
Sorry for the late update; life got busy!
I flipped the bolts, and all is good!
The benefit is extra clearance for big turbo or compound setups.
Just more space in general.
