2020 RAM 68RFE Trans - PI Curve Learn?

    Alright, here is the deal.

I have replaced my transmission and all its sensors, valve body, etc.

So, I thought, cool, everything should be good.

    Wrong!

Apparently, after 2019, the 68RFE needs a PI Curve to relearn the process.

Has anyone done this at home with Witech, and could you use a cheaper device to hook it up and work?

The dealership has been out for almost three months.

I need to get back to work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Also, it is not a simple quick learn or relearn procedure.

Does anyone have one of the J2534 pass-through devices I could use and send back to you?

I need to get this done.

If you still can access your old valve body, I reinstalled my original TCC solenoid and skipped the PI Curve relearn.

    I haven't had any issues.

I wish the one out of the old transmission was toast and had a couple of holes in the screen.

Bigger than I would think would be good.

So, I just got a new one, thinking I would be fine.

Little did I know FCA gave me up the rear with this whole thing.

    Which screen?

Are you referring to the large solenoid?

If so, that one doesn't matter.

The only one that matters is the small little one that plugs into the bottom of the valve body.

You can see it with the valve body bolted up into the transmission.

    Yep, that is the one.

    It was trash.

Plus, I replaced all of the sensors and that is the only one that needs Witech with a pass-thru programming device.

Alright, so after hours and hours of research.

I have concluded that RAM after 2019 will make it impossible for you to do your work unless you are rich.

So I haven't given up yet. I went and bought a pass-through J2534 adapter (went with the VSI-Nexgen) and am going to buy the aftermarket Mopar programming software (Witech 2.0).

But wait, you would think it would just be that simple.

Well, not only do you have to buy/rent their software, but you also have to rent an ECU Flash license and a tech license.

The good thing is I can change everything a tech can with this software.

So, let us see where it takes me.

Used transmission less than 10k miles 3750.00 valve body and torque converter upgrade with big pan and thermal bypass 3350.00 Programmers and software $1575.00.

I almost forgot the updated tune for the new valve body parameters, which are $450.00, so I am looking at a total of $9,125, as well as blood, sweat, and tears.

I built this same transmission 10-15k without programming.

Plus, I can work on any car any year if it is a dealer item.

Most likely, I can do it now.

I have also been curious about how to get this done.

After tuning my truck, I had several solenoid fault codes and was thinking of getting a new billet valve body with a new solenoid.

The only thing is that stupid PI curve relearn.

It sounds like it's either the dealership or spending a lot of money on equipment and software, as @jaydog42042 has.

You could look into "Remote Expert," which is available with the more expensive Autel scan tools like the MS909 that come with the J2934 pass-through adapter.

    True.

I want to try and find a reputable shop in my area that has this tech.

Re: 2020 RAM 68RFE Trans - PI Curve Learn?

Is that with a RevMax valve body?

You can also do that with Randy’s Babymaker 2000.
