Oh, I would be pissed!This happened to me today.
Thank goodness I was on a 45 mph two-lane road.
All eight studs completely sheered off and damaged the fender a little.
I guess that's what I get, taking my truck to a local backwoods tire shop to get my tires rotated.
I believe the air gun kid torqued the crap out of those nuts so tight that it cracked a couple of the studs.
I had them rotated a few months ago.
I put on a new wheel hub bearing and rotor and removed the inner fender well and wheel flare to try and straighten the fender out so the door could open.
It was a long and draining day!

I'm so glad it wasn't worse, and I'm curious why it happened the way it did.
No, it was a pretty smooth two-lane road.
The front end started shaking violently, and I thought I had flat.
I pulled over and looked, but the wheel was still on the truck, and underneath, it looked all good.
I was going to limp it out of the intersection to a parking lot, and when I backed up a foot, the wheel came off, and the front dropped on the ground.

Ha! That shell is one of the best investments I put on this truck.
I think when I had a tire shop do a rotation a few months ago, the kid using the air gun most likely torqued the piss out of the lugs, causing a few to crack.
It would be hard to prove, though.
Three of the studs, you can tell where it had been cracked for a while.
It must have stressed the others to the point of complete failure.
