RevMax 850 Series - 68RFE Trans - Lockup Seems Odd?

    The subject vehicle is a 2008 RAM 3500 4X4, 37" tires, 4.88 gears, tuned/ deleted.

Freshly installed transmission couldn't find 6th gear.

Removed and returned to them, they found the stator locked in the torque converter.

All their comments said were "very odd."

I reinstalled the reworked unit and now has 6th, but the lockup appears odd.

On normal going through the gears like entering the freeway, it shows hitting 6th on the scan tool, then when what I assume is lockup happens, it goes into lock up, then out of lock up one time, and back in.

This is on the flat, w/ unloaded vehicle.

RevMax initial word is, "They will lock and unlock under normal factory lockup schedules, which is what we do require.

With a triple disc, it feels more like an OEM setup."

The truck had a BD performance build that the input shaft took a dump.

It seemed to hold lockup consistently without coming in and out like the RevMax.

Those of you with the RevMax, does yours do this?

Should it go out of lockup after 6th gear one time and settle in?

It seems like it will be hard on the converter's longevity and fuel economy.

    What say you?

I am supposed to send them scanner movies, which I will. Its hard to communicate since all tech support is email only.

I wanted to hear from those who own one of these units.

Lock up typically disengages under load, but this one also seems spring-loaded in the unlock mood.

Who has done the tuning for the transmission?

Did you perform a re-learn once installed?

Oddly, QC didn't confirm everything was checked out.

However, only one technician works on each transmission from start to finish.

II 60HP STICKS, II 33% CP3, II S464 2ND GEN SWAP, FASS 165 TITANIUM SIGNATURE SERIES, AFE INTAKE HORN, S&B FILTER, 5" TURBO BACK, ALPHAREX HEAD LIGHTS, 38X13.5X20 RAZOR M/T, MOTO METAL RIMS, 6" LA LIFT KIT, COMPLET MM3 KIT, BUILT TRANSMISSION, 6 BOLT REDHEAD STEERING BOX

    Double R tunes.

Ray says this is not a programming issue.

Yes, on the scanner commanded re-learn.

Yes, on the initial break-in test drives.

After the relearn, are the CVI numbers good or within tolerances?

Just asking simple questions to help narrow things down for you.

6th seems the odd one out on the low end.

RevMax tells you with their performance build to disregard low CVI#'s or CVI codes.

    I have no codes.

You probably have already gone over this.

Scroll down to the 07.5 to 2009 install instructions.

I just went over it all.

It covers a few symptoms you may or may not be experiencing.

Yes, I will do the requested scan data movies.

I also hope to hear shift-quality experiences from others who have this unit.

I don’t have an 850, but I can tell you my 3-4 shifts are sometimes good and sometimes terrible, as it will yank out of the truck.

    Yes, I’ve tried everything.

It seems to be worse if I leave the e-brake on.

Don’t do relearns with it on. I have no idea.

White Ram 2500 4x4 Laramie, Tuned, 625 ARPs, Revmax transmission with a billet input shaft, billet flex plate, Revmax thermal bypass, Revmax deep pan, Revmax billet valve body,
4600 shocks, Airdog 165, ARE shell, Line-X, ICT grid heater delete, Glacier diesel grid heater, stock size tires and wheels, stock suspension, mostly just a stock truck.
