Valve Lash Adjustment At 175k Miles?

I was recently told by a Chrysler mechanic that 8/18 were his personal settings when setting valve lash.

Does anyone have anything to say about this, or does that sound right?

I know that is within spec.

However when talking thousandths 6-15 and 15-30 are pretty wide tolerances.

I am following up as I am just under 10,000 miles from the recommended 150,000-mile interval and was thinking of doing the same service next weekend.

I did it on my 2012 6.7L, but I think I put those at 10 & 26 (honestly, I can remember the exact setting I used).

The recommended valve clearance on emissions-equipped trucks is intake .010” and exhaust .026”.

For deleted trucks, we generally recommend .010” / .020”.

The allowable spec is .006” - .015” intake and .015” - .030” exhaust.

The .008”/ .018” is a little tight, but still within spec.
