2015 Cummins White Smoke / Ruff Idle?

My truck is a 2015 Cummins deleted stock tune. I never pulled the EGR off the truck; I just unplugged it.

Driving home today, it started shaking ruffly at idle (it almost felt like running a dozer).

When I stopped for a few minutes, I noticed it smelled like raw diesel and had a small amount of white smoke.

I shut it down and turned it back on.

    It came back.

I drove for a few more minutes, and it all cleaned up and returned to running normally.

I did have the batteries out of the truck for a couple of days; one of them went bad, and I had to replace it.

I don't know if that possibly caused the computer to do something weird.

Do you have any thoughts about a stuck/bad injector?

I never noticed the coolant level going down.

It has around 75k miles on the truck and hides in the grade during winter.

    Sounds like a leaking injector.

    See the troubleshooting information attached.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Could the injector have randomly gotten stuck, or probably not so much?

Do you know if a RaceME or Bullydog GT can do the injector scan test off-hand?

Since it was intermittent, the injector may have failed to seat correctly, causing it to leak.

You could try running some injector cleaner like Archoil AR6400-D through the system.

You will need a scanner or AlfaOBD software to perform the injector kill or contribution test.

However, this test will likely be inconclusive with a leaking injector and will be intermittent.
