Shaking With Exhaust Brake First Start of The Day

To start, I owned it for two weeks before tuning it.

Before the out of box tune from RaceME, the truck ran smooth, and there wasn't anything noticeable going on

I tuned the tuck and took a week or so to find out the truck would shake pretty well when started and have the EB on.

After about 5 minutes of driving or letting it idle for 10 minutes, it won't shake when the EB is on and getting up to temp

I have also noticed sometimes, when starting the truck and the EB is off, the truck will have a hard time constantly idle until I rev it up, hold it for a few seconds, and then release

I live at 5,000 ft; I have noticed it will act like this 98% of the time in winter. (no block heating) Also, when I travel to higher elevations, it's a cold start, regardless of the time of year.

    Sounds like a tuning issue.

    Box tunes should be avoided.

I agree; box tunes are junk.

It would be best if you had custom tuning.

I had a similar issue while running the RaceME tunes when using the EB/high idle simultaneously on a cold start.

I believe it was only on the "basic tuning," I reflashed with the "advanced tuning" and resolved the issue.

Or you could purchase DRD tunes, which are better all around.

I'm just curious what the advanced tuning option changes.

Is that only for upgraded fuel systems, etc.?

I've been running the basic for years.

My only upgrades are a 64mm turbo and VB with a trans box tune from RaceME.

There are just more parameters that you can adjust; that's the only difference.

If you change to advanced, I would select all the default settings, and then after you flash the truck, you can always change the parameter using the RT settings.

It's a lot better than the basic tunes, in my opinion.

I got significantly better MPG, spool, and power.

If I re-flashed with the advanced tune would I need to re-flash the trans tune, do a re-learn etc.?

It's been awhile since I've looked, but once you open the menu for advanced tuning I believe you will be prompted to select an option for your transmission.

Obviously, select the one that raises line pressure to accommodate your valve body.

There isn't really any way around this so yes you will be reflashing the TCM and will need to do a relearn.

    Makes sense, thanks!

I have the same issue with my RaceME on my 2018 cold start with an exhaust brake with advanced tuning.

I just left EB off till it warmed up.

As for box tunes, they're not too bad, but they would be way better.

LOL, all I hear to use is DRD.

    RaceME offers custom tunes.

Is it Dan who makes their tunes?
