Grid Heater and Fuel Pump in Cold Climate

    2 questions here.

Both because I live up in Canada, so as many would know, it’s cold here more often than not.

First, when doing an intake horn, should I look for something that keeps the grid heater or deletes it?

Second, aftermarket fuel pump (like a FASS or Air Dog), do they work well in our cold climate?

Or is it even worth it to install one living here? (Just don’t think I’ve really seen many up here).

    Thanks for any answers.

The grid heater aids with cold starts but is not a necessity. Without any starting aid these truck will start at 0*F pretty easy (might take an extra crank or two). When they are cold it may sound a bit different than normal but no problem.

If you are concerned about temps below 0 I would suggest a block heater (plug in) or keeping the grid, there are some styles that relocate it to the other side of the intake horn.

FASS systems will work in cold as well, again if you are really concerned about temps then I believe they do have a heater option.

Shoot me an email if you’d like pricing on any of these parts!

I live in the cold too. Keep the grid heater, you need it.

The slight air flow improvement is not even close to being worth it and is only felt on heavily modified engines.

There is a reason I don't run FASS/AirDog, until they come up with a better mounting system, the frame sucks.
