98-02 24 Valve High Idle and 3 Cylinder High Idle Questions

Is this something standard on our trucks? Or is it something you get with a programmer? My dad's 97 12 valve does not do it in winter and I have not had my 99 24 valve long enough yet to see if it does this in winter so I was just curious and wanted to ask you guys.

I'll be honest with you, I have a 2008 and mine has the high idle and sounds nothing like that. That sounds really bad. I would say call a dealer and see what they say.

It was an optional reflash on 24V second gen trucks. 12V's don't have it for obvious reasons

08 also closes the vanes on the turbo. In General, 6.7s don't sound much like older trucks due in a large part to the VGT turbo

    Nobody answered the actual question.

All trucks with a pooter have that idle up feature.

That one sounds like it's starving for fuel

No, not all. They have to reflash the truck to enable that feature on older trucks

It is a re flash program from the dealer. Not all came with. You can get the 3 cyl high idle and the full 6 cyl high idle. I know some people on another forum that are in the process of building a module that will allow you to control the high idle manually, given you have had the ECM flashed with the high idle software.

And that truck in the video was on the 6 cyl high idle at the beginning and switched to the 3 cyl high idle. Completely normal.
