New Guy - 2016 RAM 2500 Laramie Longhorn

Had my truck for about 4 months now.

Being a lifelong 1/2 ton gasser, the pulling power in these things is amazing.

I bought an RV that was more than my Tundra wanted to tow, so I bought this.

After a few short tows and once in a lifetime snow event in Texas, I fell in love with my Cummins until my first long tow.

Towed my camper from DFW to Grand Canyon. Pulling into Williams, AZ, I lost the water pump and dumped most coolant on the ground.

Drive it to flagstaff for warranty repair, easy enough. Dealer explains the difficult process of burping air out of the cooling system.

Since that happened, I haven't been able to keep the coolant in it. It is not leaking, no milkshake in the crankcase. It's magically disappearing.

Nurse it back home 1050 miles, pulling 9500 lb trailer I add 18 gallons of coolant along the way.

Finally, make it home and get it to a local dealer.

They call me explaining the EGR cooler is leaking coolant into the exhaust and will cost $2500 to repair.

Here we are, time to get rid of a faulty EGR system and make America Great Again.

Be nice; I'm a diesel noob.

    Welcome friend.

I had a similar problem with my truck.

I bought it used with 64000 miles on it.

I started using it and driving it to work every day and noticed that I was losing coolant somewhere.

I could also smell it and come to find out it was the same issue.

    EGR cooler was leaking.

I got rid of that nonsense, and it's doing great now.
