Bought a Cummins. its throwing 5 codes. HELP!

How's it going guys. I bought a 2005 Cummins 4 door 4 wheel drive dually. Truck is underpowered and wont go past 60 mph and wants to die at complete stops. Im pretty sure its fuel filters. Guy I bought it from said he hadnt changed em in a GOOD while. So thats solved. Anyways I turned the key forward and back 3 times. It threw 5 codes. See if you all could help me out. Someone. Just let me know what they are and how to fix it. Here are the codes. P0243, P2509, P0480, P0107, P0073. It doesnt have a check engine light. Someone please help. Truck is all stock except for a 6 inch superlift and a muffler delete. Thanks guys. Please help...

    P0480-cooling Fan 1 Control Circuit/open

P0107-manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Circuit Low

P0073-inlet Air Temp Sensor Voltage Too High - Ecm

    P2509-ecm/pcm Power Input Signal Intermittent

I can't find the 243. It acts like the TPS is whacky. That may have something to do with the fans. Common problem

You're going to have to get a real scanner on that to find what the last code is.

Check all the grounds and have the batteries checked out. Everything is so dependent on the batteries these days. Those codes could be bogus because of low voltage.

It could be in a limp mode. Reason for the lack of speed and power.

Start there. I'm guessing until we get the voltage issues eliminated.

That's what I was thinking. I had to write stuff down until it came to me.

If those terminal are corroded, the chances are the battery posts are leaking. Clean them real good with a wire post cleaner. Smear a light coat of grease or vasoline on the post, then put the cable back on. An easier way is to just oil them when you have the cleaning done.

If the connections will not tighten up, that's bad. The right way is to get a new cable. Until you find a appropriate repair, you can use a very small sheet metal screw to pull the terminals tight. Don't go all the way in with it. run it down between the post and the terminal. Oil it anyway.

If the terminals are pretty cruddy, you can clean the battery real good around the base of the post. Smear a thin coat of RTV around the base. It will keep reduce the gasses that cause the corrosion.

I ran 2 years like that once.

Wow. Ok u got it. Thanks bud. Appreciate it. Its just scary buying a truck youve never seen. LOL. A buddy told me about truck. I bought it over the phone. It was a good price for a cummins dually so I took it. When I got home I saw the truck and was really suprised then I scanned it for codes and when 5 came out I was like damn. Ok on the terminals what if I cut a little section out of the middle so im able to tighten it up all the way on the post. You know where the terminal closes up when you tighten it.

That would work too. Hack saw blade width should do the trick. The lead compresses. Make sure the terminal is all the way down on the post. The post should be flush or slightly through the top.

You need to be careful not to break those terminal bolts. They are made of unobtainium. LOL

Your's is a different system than he has. Can Buss became mandatory in 2006. I'm not sure his 05 had that.

It took them years to get the Can Buss system straightened

I'm just glad that fixed my check engine light and starting issues. Could have been a lot worse.
