Wow, if this couldn't get any better.
Now come on, this thing had zero play before, and you all have seen the video.
There is no freaking way I am cranking this truck up or driving it after what I heard and discovered.
If I heard a swoosh noise while driving and then found a huge increase in play, obviously, it's not normal and on its way out.
Smeding is still blowing my mind.
What do you all think, LOL?
I have a SD 5 blade S468/83/1.0.
Only put a few thousand miles on it so far, but it’s been a good turbo.
It is loud, though, which I liked and knew going into it.
If your foot is touching the pedal, you will hear the turbo.
I also have a 3-piece ATS manifold that’s been mounted but unused that I would sell.
If you’re interested, DM me.
ETA: I see you went with a Steed.
Nice!

Thanks, I appreciate it.
I got everything ordered, and I will be using Steed Speed.
I can't wait for a new setup so I can ditch Smeding.
Alright, I know I am posting like crazy on here.
I want to update my last post with their email saying the turbo is checking out ok.
The facts on my end are hearing the noise, the wheel making a contact noise side to side (clunking), binding, and gaining huge amounts of excessive play in a short time.
There is no way this much play is normal hence the sounds.
It's obvious Smeding is a tucking tail on this.
So I will apologize ahead of time for this screenshot containing language.
Honestly, I try to stay professional and not lose my temper, but the gloves are off now.
Here is the last thing I want and will say to Smeding below.
I am not convinced that this turbo isn't experiencing contact noise, and I, myself, not Smeding, will be disassembling this turbo at some point.
Obviously, hearing odd turbo noise without my hearing aids tells me something is up.
So I once again apologize for the below screenshot.
I love the “commie china” bit.

LOL, you are welcome.
I get a little feisty when mad ha, ha.
Love it!!

Curious if you could contact their GM and tell the story.
I don't know if you are talking to a 21yr old, know it Walmart sales associate or someone higher, but getting the point across to the slime bag behind their name into the picture might be another way of getting a refund.
Mention an Attorney a few times to bring light into their eyes.
It'll show you're taking this seriously.
Yeah, we all know the turbo itself is a grand, and a lawyer is triple that to get the ball going, but that should indicate it's not about getting money back; it's about not screwing over another American down the road.
We are probably the biggest Cummins forums out there; it could make a business fall out with a paper trail of trash reputation.

I don't have much to say to them at this point, and I may lose my temper even worse on the phone.
I got an email and a call while I was working to give them a call and ask for Davey.
They have already shut me down a few emails ago on a refund and at first talked about my installation.
If they can't find a way to blame it on the customer, they give you the runaround.
With Smeding, I have finally realized that I am not the only one this has happened to, and to be honest, it seems to happen a lot.
They will probably try to convince me to have the turbo fixed, which isn't happening, or send me another, which also isn't happening.
I wouldn't even put it on a Prius, and I hate those cars.
Another irritating fact was that they wanted me to run my truck right now.
So honestly, with this forum, I think it's time Smeding gets no sympathy, and hopefully, they go out of business where they belong.
We also cannot forget that, from what another member told me here, they like to copy other companies products and stamp their names on them.
So honestly, it's just beyond my situation at this point, and nothing they do or say can make it right unless I see a pending deposit in my account.
I do want to thank everyone on here for getting my back.
It means a lot.
It made this situation alot less stressful in some ways.
DDP was beneficial, and I feel my truck will return to the road quickly.
Hey, you still have my permission to name-drop and call them out.
