    2014 RAM 2500 - Trans Cooler?

So, my truck is not very modified.

I have a leveling kit on 35s with stock 3.42 gears, a redline diesel performance trans with low stall billet converter and the trans fluid thermostat delete (my stock trans lost TC lockup ability, so I replaced it), city diesel turbo actuator, a 180-degree coolant thermostat and DRD tunes.

I usually leave it on 60 or 90hp.

I do pull things with it, but set it to 30hp when I do.

I've noticed my trans temps are higher than average in traffic this summer.

Driving down the road is usually less than 170 degrees every day.

In city traffic this summer, I had it hit 203 degrees; that's the hottest I've ever seen.

I'm wondering if my fan clutch is starting to go out, but the coolant temp usually stays between 183 and 190.

I've been considering adding a fan-cooled trans cooler (maybe where my DPF tank used to be) to keep it cool in traffic or whenever I see it warm up.

I've been considering getting a bar and fin cooler and installing electric fans for airflow.

Have any of you done anything similar?

I've been wondering how to place in lines to add the cooler lines.

Do you have the thermostatic bypass kit?

What's the average temp out lately?

Banks and Mishimoto are two well-known companies that offer great aftermarket trans coolers.

I would look into getting some gears; your current setup with 35's isnt doing your transmission any favors.

    Agree with @J695.

It would be best if you regeared badly.

I'm going to 4.10's from 3.73's on my 21 2500 since going to 35" tires.

Since you tow, you need gears even more...

Cummins likes to be 1800-2000 RPMS for towing.

Since I'm in 6th gear, I know you're not in that range.

    Are you locking gears out?

Where are you getting your gears from?

If you don’t mind me asking, I have a 19.

I got my front set from here: https://cmgearworks.com/product/2020...-410-9-25-410/

The rear set I ordered from a local place called General Truck Parts on the south side of Indy.

I also got the bearing kits to go with them.

It's not a gearing issue for me; driving on hwy temps is fine, just when I was in city traffic.

I haven't been in much city traffic since this happened, and finally, the outside temps have started to cool down a bit.

I haven't seen it get hot since the weather has cooled down from over 100 degrees.

I guess that was the issue.

Still, I may add a cooler with fans for those hot days!

I just picked up a set of 4.56's for my 2017 from @DDP Yukon gears with master install packages.

Now I need to install them.
