    2nd Gen Swap Opinion?

    I got a 2018 3500 G56.

It has a weight reduction kit; everything else is stock.

I'm also thinking of doing a 2nd Gen swap on it for long-term reliability and sound.

The truck only has 19k miles.

What turbo size would you recommend for daily driving and occasional hauling (nothing too heavy)?

Also, what other upgrades are recommended when doing the swap?

I'm not looking for substantial power upgrades, 60-100hp max.

    @mendozuh

    S464 turbo with a .90 A\R

ARP Head studs, FASS, OR AIR DOG 165GPH lift pump; I would also get the exhaust manifold stud kit for easy installation.

The 2G kits generally come with everything else needed.

If you jump to the S467 size, more is needed.

You won't need fuel upgrades for the 64 turbos based on power goals.

On another note, if you're coming from stock to weight loss with DRD, you will see and feel a big difference in power delivery in tuning alone.

That will save you a big chunk of money.

For what your end goals are, I would consider an S366 SXE turbo with a 1.0AR.

It will run great on stock fueling, provide a similar stock spool, and it's a good setup for the occasional towing.

Lots of info on the pros and cons of a S300 vs S400.

Both are great options; it comes down to what you want power-wise / drive-ability.

    - Happy to be on the food chain at all.

    I would go S464 or S467.

Don't let a 467 scare you on stock fuel.

I ran a 467 with a .91 AR on stock fuel for over a year.

    Ran just fine.

Then I upgraded to 1.5 BBI Injectors, 10mm S&S CP3, and a Fleece tank lift pump.

    Woke it up

Make sure you do head studs either way.

IMO, giving up the stock turbo isn't worth it for only 60-100hp.

Nothing will also spool, and you'll lose the brake.

That being said, I would get an S464/83/.90 on a manifold flipped-up 'high mount' kit.

Much easier to install, and you don't have to mess with any AC lines.

I'd also get some head studs and a FASS or airdog lift pump and delete the stock filter housing.

    Re: 2nd Gen Swap Opinion?

    I have run a S464 and a S467, and both are great.

I am running an S467.7 by Stainless Diesel and absolutely love it.

It does take a little to spool on stock fuel.

It feels like it starts spooling at 1750 or 2k rpm, and from others, it pulls hard.

I also tow with truck and trailer and load at least 26k plus up mountains with zero issues.

    Could it use more fuel?

Yes, but I am thrilled with my setup; head studs are necessary.

For your HP goals, I would stay stock turbo.

Why would you want to give up the exhaust brake?

Something to consider when changing things around is your clutch.

Yours is low miles, but start stacking power on it, and it might give you trouble sooner than expected.

Back when I first deleted it, my clutch went out almost immediately.

I ended up putting a SouthBend in and have been happy with it ever since.
