My VGT finally went out on my 2016 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins.
The truck was purchased in 2018 with 170K miles on it.
It was deleted at around 175K miles, including EGR removal, DPF and CAT removal, 5" Flo-Pro turbo back exhaust, and an MM3 tuner with Double-R-Diesel tunes.
Since then, the truck has run great, and it now has 240K miles on it.
Just recently, the VGT turbo and actuator started having problems, and the truck cannot be driven anymore.
I've decided that I do not want to replace the turbo/actuator with another VGT (given online research from numerous others), and shortly considered doing a Gen 3 swap before thinking a Gen 2 swap is probably the way to go; that based on some local input from others.
Like almost anybody, I want to get the most power/performance out of the engine as I can with my current setup.
The only other mods I'm considering (depending on budget) would be a Banks Ram intake with heater grid replacement.
Beyond that, I do not plan on doing anything else with the engine or fuel system since this is my daily driver.
The only pulling I do anymore is a 16' car trailer at most, and that's rare.
I'm also running Nitto Ridge Grappler 35 X 12.50R20.
I'm aware of the risks with the stock tranny, but I will take those risk and replace it in the future if need be, especially since I'm very rarely on the pedal.
Local input from others has suggested I look into Stainless Diesel options, and I called them today to see what they offer.
They provided a recommended turbo and manifold but indicated they no longer offer a G2 kit or piping.
Searching igotacummins site, I stumbled on this discouraging post: https://www.igotacummins.com/threads...Billion-To-EPA!, which made me realize why Stainless Diesel probably no longer offers piping(???).
This government and its EPA are entirely out of control.
At this point, I'm not sure what to do.
I need to get my truck fixed.
Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?
They would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and Best Regards,
Drew
