Red face MM3 Tuner - PCM Update - How To?

    Hey guys!

My truck has been running sluggishly, but only at takeoff.

I don’t drive it much, but I know something isn’t right.

So, I took it to the boys at the shop and had the test drive done.

They agreed that it was sluggish at takeoff.

They monitored apps, tps, turbo vane position, etc., and found nothing out of the ordinary and no codes.

They did say it needs a PCM update.

They know how ‘sensitive’ I am to my MM3 tuner; otherwise, they would have done it right then and there themselves.

So, my question is, how do I go about it?

I haven’t touched the MM3 since day one, so I’m clueless and not tech-savvy, so please don’t laugh.

Do I just put it in stock mode, have them re-flash with PCM update, and then go back to tuning mode, and that’s it?

    Will I lose anything?

    I need full details, please.

    TIA!!

I am unsure what is causing the sluggishness you are experiencing on take-off.

I don’t know of any PCM updates that would correct the symptoms.

Ask the shop what TSB or recall number update they want to try, and we can do some research for you.

The dealerships are eager to perform the 67A recall, which will not help you at all, so let’s ensure it’s not that.

Hopefully, others will chime in with their ideas, too.

I also have a 2014 3500 with the Aisin and the same tuning without any sluggishness on takeoff.

I reviewed my maintenance records; my last PCM update was on 12/04/2018.

Hey Sandi, when was the last time your fuel filters were replaced?

It sounds like the PCM update could be what Bob mentioned (the EPA is pushing this), which wouldn’t help your truck.

Hi Bob, they can’t figure it out either, which scares me.

I will go to the shop on Friday and ask and report back.

    Thank You!!

Is that the only time you had a PCM update done?

Yes, and that was before tuning.

I have no reason to believe any newer update would solve your issue, as mine isn’t sluggish.

Re: MM3 Tuner - PCM Update - How To?

Alright, guys. I went to the shop and talked to the owner.

He will NOT do the PCM update because he doesn’t know if Chrysler has a lock on doing ‘updates’ on deleted trucks.

He’s afraid if he did, that would mess it up, and I would have to start fresh again with a new tuner, if that makes sense.

He did mention that I should talk with Ray and see if he can figure it out.

Or maybe I need an update on the MM3.

So, I am tagging Ray in this.

    THANKS GUYS!

    You’re the best!! @DRD
