    Fuel Control Actuator?

2018 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins 4x4 has some slight noticeable surge in reverse and drive; from everything I have read, FCA is possibly the culprit.

My understanding is that it's plug-and-play, but I may be wrong.

So, I ordered one from Geno's, installed it, cranked it, and checked for leaks, but it did not drive until yesterday.

There is a surge in drive and reverse that is noticeably worse with the new FC; put the old one back in.

Do I need to use AlfaOBD to turn the new actuator on, or did I get a bad one from Geno's?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You don’t need to turn anything on; it’s just a simple solenoid, and your ECU doesn’t know you installed a new one.

It sounds like something else causing the surge and the slight change in fuel delivery from a fresh FCA had a mutual impact.

Perhaps an injector or something; I’m sure someone will have a better idea than me.

Surging symptoms can be challenging to diagnose.

I would start by monitoring fuel rail pressure actual vs desired, then check otherPID's while surging.

    See the troubleshooting information attached.

I reloaded my tune and made sure it had a good charger on it while I did.

I'm not sure I had a charger on it when I loaded it initially; the surging is gone.
