2018 RAM Cummins 3500 Aisin Trans Problems!

Driving to work this morning, the truck jerked as if trying to put itself into the park or engage 4WD at 70 MPH.

Then, I get a brief message that says "4 Wheel Drive Temporarily Unavailable".

Then, I can't accelerate or anything.

Just coasting down the road, I use my momentum to pull off the side of the highway and get up onto the gravel.

I shut the truck off and turned it back on.

The engine code is still showing, but I can't seem to pull the code with the MM3.

For some reason, I thought you could read codes using those.

I'm unsure how I want to proceed with this or what to do.

EDIT: I got it back into gear and drove to work.

I still have the code but am apprehensive about driving again because going "sort-of-sideways" when it tries to put itself into park at highway speeds is scary.

I am sorry to hear you are having problems.

From your description, it’s hard to say, the issue could be in the ABS module, wheel speed sensor, 4WD actuator, transfer case, or transmission.

You need to do a full system scan of all modules for trouble codes.

This information should help narrow it down.

The MM3 only scans the PCM.

I have AlphaOBD, but I must first get the truck home.

I just haven't used it much, so I'll have to do that when I get home.

I haven't used AlfaOBD as a scan tool; only for the body control module functions.

You must select each module from the "Function" dropdown menu and scan each module for faults.

With most scan tools like Autel or Autoenginuity you can scan all modules at one time.

Ok, I went out to my truck to see if I could see anything.

I was adjusting the A/C on my head unit and remembered I had a diagnostic page on my Pioneer head unit.

P0472 EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR 1 LOW
P0735 GEAR RATIO ERROR IN 5TH

I was able to see and clear both of those codes.

Now what, LOL?

I'm not even sure what to do with that.

Well, I hope it doesn’t come down to that.

The Allison swap would be worth considering or a RevMax-built Aisin.

That's going to force me to get a new engine and push at least 1k horse.

The RevMax Aisin signature will supposedly hold in excess of 1000 HP for $9995.00
