    Overhead Console Map Lights

My overhead console passenger side map light stopped working.

I took it apart and determined the LED bulb/circuit board was bad.

I researched the LED circuit board and found it’s only available with the entire console assembly for $378.20

I replaced both the LED assemblies with these LED bulbs for $1.20 each.

Photo #2 the old LED assembly is on the left (yellow), and the new LED is on the right (white).

Thanks @AK Bob this is perfect, my passenger light has been flickering lately probably going bad. How did you get that panel out, does it just snap in place or are there screws?

The whole console is held up by four metal clips and plastic tabs. No screws. See photo below for the location of the metal clips. I found it best to first remove the black light panel assembly loose first by gently prying it out with plastic trim tools. There are small plastic tabs on the sides and longer ones on the back furthest away from the windshield. Once you get this panel loose without breaking anything you can unplug some of the electrical connectors and get it out of the way. This also gives you a place to grab the main tan colored bezel and pull it straight down off the metal clips while prying the edges. Take your time, there are two longer plastic tabs on the windshield end of the tan colored bezel that must be flexed away from the headliner first (also visible in the first photo).

Once you get the whole assembly out, take some small side cutters and cut off the three plastic post heads that hold the reflectors in. Remove the reflectors by gently prying them off the posts. Unplug the LED light assembly and insert your new LED’s. I went ahead and cut the three posts off flush and drilled where they were for #6 X3/8” sheet metal screws to hold in the reflectors and to make to easier to replace the LED’s in the future if necessary.

Hope this helps, and makes sense. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. The main thing is to use plastic trim tools and take your time to avoid breaking or damaging anything.
