Looking For Advice On RAM 2500 + Tune

    I am a new member.

I purchased the Lifetime Membership because I’m hoping people here can point me in the right direction.

There is so much information to sift through.

I used to own a 2005 Dodge RAM 2500 5.9 and sold it to buy a 2008 Dodge RAM 2500 Mega Cab.

I deleted it and ran a Mini Max Tuner but sold the 2008 because I moved to TX to work on a Master’s degree.

I’d like to purchase a Dodge 2500 Laramie Mega Cab but don’t know which year to get.

I like the interior of the 2019 but am not sure if it is better to delete it or find a tuner that can do intact tuning.

I live in the Dallas area, and it would be nice to visit a local “friendly” shop if that exists.

My thought is to buy a Mega Cab, have a shop remove the transmission along with the front and rear axles (sell them).

Then, have an Allison transmission installed and a heavier duty front end.

There are probably more upgrades as well.

Rather than spend $85,000 on a new truck, I thought I’d just build a Mega Cab to last forever.

Please post or PM me with advice.

I like the look of the new RAMS.

I like adaptive cruise control and love the HUD, but I am more concerned about a solid truck.

Can you guide me as to the pros and cons of each year group?

I’m an airline pilot, so I’d like to build a truck that will last the rest of my life.

I’m exploring if it would be better for me to get a truck under 50,000 miles, remove the transmission along with the axles, and sell them.

Then, take the proceeds and buy an Allison transmission through ATS to upgrade the axles.

The bottom line is I want to build a bulletproof truck and do it right.

I read on a post that the DRD + MM3 is the way to go, but when I look at their website, it says, “PLEASE NOTE, THIS TUNING PACKAGE IS EMISSIONS COMPLIANT AND DOES NOT ALLOW FOR DELETING EMISSIONS SYSTEMS!!!”

I have to figure out which generation to buy before I begin my journey.

    I would appreciate any feedback.
