I'm not sure if that will make that much of a difference.

I'll have to look at those different brands you mentioned.

If I recall, do they need programming when they get installed?
City Diesel one does not need programming.

What is the best I can remember, it should say in the product description.

An OE style does, and you’ll need to rent a programmer or find a buddy with Cummins insite.

If you have sound tunes, I recall City Diesel actuators cause conflicts.

Otherwise, they are the go-to replacements.

II 60HP STICKS, II 33% CP3, II S464 2ND GEN SWAP, FASS 165 TITANIUM SIGNATURE SERIES, AFE INTAKE HORN, S&B FILTER, 5" TURBO BACK, ALPHAREX HEAD LIGHTS, 38X13.5X20 RAZOR M/T, MOTO METAL RIMS, 6" LA LIFT KIT, COMPLET MM3 KIT, BUILT TRANSMISSION, 6 BOLT REDHEAD STEERING BOX, YUKON 4.56 GEARS W/ COVERS

Agree with all the recommendations above.

I would go with the City Diesel actuator if you don’t have the sound tunes.

The City Diesel actuator is self calibrating, has a stronger motor, and has more robust electronics.

They are usually on backorder, so be prepared for a delay in shipping.

If you go with the stock Holset actuator, you can calibrate with Alfa OBD or higher end scan tool.

Prior to ordering the actuator, you will need to check for free movement of the turbo vanes.

2014 RAM 3500 (Aisin) 3.73 4X4 Limited Crew Cab Long Bed DRW. Oil Bypass Filter, Fuel Filtration Kit, Cold Air Intake, City Diesel Actuator and 50 Gallon Aux Fuel Tank.

Are sound tunes the hiss and 24v ones and whatever else I saw on the DRD website? Is that what a "sound tune" is?

When the actuator is removed, you check this by cycling the rocker for the vanes with your hand. Not sure what to call it, but it’s like a rocker/switch that pivots on a pin (it’s the part that the actuator is moving). It should take very little effort to cycle this and should move freely. You’ll know if you have an issue.

See link below, check out the “Install and Tech Information” tab and download the “Actuator Installation and Instructions” PDF. Also see the video under the video tab.

I believe the DRD sound tunes were called the Whistle, Lope and Twelve Valve.

If there is a backorder, is there any adverse effects from not getting this fixed sooner than later? Any possible long term or more expensive damage that I can cause?
