Revert Back To Dual Mass Flywheel?

As the title says, I would like to revert to a DMF from SMF.

I have a used 2015 RAM 2500 that was deleted when I bought it.

The previous owner had some scorching tunes, and there was no way a factory clutch could hold it, so he installed a Southbend dual disc.

I have since changed that 5-position knob to an MM3 running a 30HP from DRD.

I no longer need such a clutch and would like to get some comfort back.

Going the "wrong way," it seems as if there is very minimal information I can find.

So far, I will need to return to stock hydraulics and round up a pretty good list of parts.

I'm looking at a NAPA 1105182 as it has the DMF, clutch disc, pressure plate, new release, and pilot bearing.

I have a source for the adapter plate, spacer ring, and bolts that secure the adapter plate and spacer ring to the crank as well as the bolts that secure the flywheel to the adapter ring.

This brings me to my question: Is there anything I am missing?

More importantly, does anyone know if a stock clutch, specifically that NAPA one (though my work, I get reasonable prices), will hold the extra 30HP?

If not, are there any recommendations for a clutch that will hold the extra 30HP and still utilize a factory-style dual-mass flywheel?

Yes, I know it seems crazy to go backward.

Yes, I know a DMF can be fragile.

Yes, I know I have lost my mind, and my wife reminds me of this regularly.

I need to convince myself (and my wife) that I won't immediately smoke a new clutch before I can release the funds to do this project.

If anyone has any experience with a factory or factory-style DMF clutch that successfully holds at least a 30HP tune, I would greatly appreciate your help.

You should be OK with a regular stock clutch holding 30hp.

My stock clutch does great, but anything higher than that will cause it to slip.

    Thanks for the reply.

Are you also running a 30HP tune?

If so, do you have any problems with towing/ hauling?

For me, once every couple of months, I will haul about 2,000 pounds of scrap once the pile gets big enough (brake jobs on semis leave me with plenty of drums), and probably once a month during the summer, I will tow the travel trailer and when hooked up my average combined gross is about 17,500.

Past that, it's random work, whatever project my wife and I are up to, or something the in-laws have me doing.

I don't work it too hard, but I want to know what I am getting myself into.

    30hp is recommended for towing.

My MM3 tuner goes from 30 up to 200hp.

When I tow, I put it on 30 but usually drive conservatively on 60 or 90.

If I get on the throttle hard, it does cause the clutch to slip.

I got the best mileage on those settings by 1-2 mpg.

Re: Revert Back To Dual Mass Flywheel?

I picked up the last couple of parts for this project today, and I will have a friend help me do the installation tomorrow afternoon.

Once I have driven roughly 500 miles to break it in in about a week or so, I will update you on how it's holding that way.

If anyone in the future is looking to do something similar, the information will be more readily available.
