    Steed Speed Exhaust Manifold

I decided to replace the stock exhaust manifold on my 2014 RAM 3500.

I ordered the T4i for my stock VGT turbo from Steed Speed on May 30th, 2024.

Due to backorder, I finally received it yesterday after waiting three months.

I inspected the manifold last night and was very impressed with the quality and appearance.

I was going to install it today before the snow flies; however, I noticed the turbo flange on the new manifold was 180 degrees off.

    See the photo attached.

The blind threaded hole on the flange for mounting to the turbo is in the wrong location.

Last night, I emailed Steed Speed customer service and attached photos.

They emailed and called me back today to apologize for their mistake.

Fortunately, they have three more manifolds from the batch that are almost complete and will ship another out hopefully this week.

They haven’t decided yet if they will pay for me to ship the manifold back or if they will have me cut it in half and dispose of it.

I may cry if I have to cut up such a beautiful work of art, LOL.

I will update this thread and attach photos during and after installation.

Good god, what a serious bummer.

For a big company like them, I would demand that they pay for shipping to AK.

Sorry for the long wait time and another additional week.

Yes, they are paying for the shipping to Alaska.

The only thing up for debate is whether they want to pay to ship the defective manifold back to them or have me destroy it.

    I read your post incorrectly.

It's a crime to destroy a piece of art like that, LOL.

Wow, that is very unfortunate; the positive is that they are taking care of you.

Steed Speed: Whenever I've had questions, they have always been willing to help even though they don't sell directly to consumers.

Dang Bob, I’m glad they have a few made and will ship them to you.

Sucks you waited three months only to receive it manufactured wrong.

Side note: Your pics are showing a broken link in Tapatalk.

This seems to be a common problem with using igotacummins thru Tapatalk.

I’ll have to get on a desktop to view them.

    Re: Steed Speed Exhaust Manifold

I finally received the replacement manifold from Steed Speed.

This time, the turbo studs are in the correct locations.

I will start on that project this weekend.

Hopefully, it will go smoothly without any broken bolts.

    Re: Steed Speed Exhaust Manifold

The Steed Speed manifold is now installed (see before and after photos below).

The installation was more time-consuming than I had anticipated.

The old manifold came out quickly without breaking any studs.

Removing the factory locking retainer on cylinder #6 took a while.

I noticed the #6 was leaking, and the gasket burned through #5.

About 5 years ago, I had both studs break on cylinder #1 and replaced them.

The new manifold was tricky to install because the manifold blocked the #5 lower flange stud (see the stud in the center of the last photo).

It may have been easier to remove the turbo and attach it to the new manifold before installation with the new studs pre-installed into the head.

Either way, I could fish the stud in place without removing the turbo, but it was time-consuming and frustrating due to the manifold design and difficult access.

I just returned from a test drive and was surprised by a significant increase in power that I wasn’t expecting.

My EGTs are running slightly higher; I am unsure if that is a result of the additional power or due to the different locations of the EGT probe.

The EGT temperature seems to increase and decrease faster than before and is running slightly higher.

If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on this, please comment.

With one heat cycle completed, I will re-torque the Fleece studs and the turbo flange bolts tomorrow and report back.
