    MM3 Tuner Install Gone Wrong?

So, I received a blank MM3 and got it wired in with no issues.

I communicated with ECM, got the stock file, and saw that the digital gauges worked.

I also successfully updated the firmware of the MM3 using the MM3 Agent.

Once I got the tunes, I loaded it onto the card and into the MM3.

I proceeded to program the custom tune, which started but never reached 0%.

It said low voltage, but I had a battery charger connected, so I connected a stronger battery charger and tried again.

It failed several times, and NOW whenever I press ECM on the MM3, it immediately shows an error and says, “ECM is not in Application mode!”.

Several posts indicated that I should put the MM3 in the fridge for 30 minutes, so I tried that and got the same result.

I also tried unplugging the OBD port several times for a couple of minutes, and there were no dice.

At this point, I’ve emailed MM3 and am waiting to hear back, but my truck won’t start, and I’m a little concerned.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Currently the SD card symbol is green and the ECM symbol is yellow.

You are in good hands with MM3 Power; you may need a recovery file from them.

    I haven’t heard back from MM3.

They don’t pick up the phone and don’t have voicemail.

How responsive have they been for you guys?

I am literally stuck at home until I get this resolved.

I have always had excellent and timely replies from MM3 Power.

That being said, I am sure there are times when they get very busy.

I have found it’s best to email them with the details of your request for help and include all your contact information.

Ok, that’s good to hear. I emailed them last night, hoping they’d respond sometime today to help me work through this.

    Nothing yet.

Be sure and check your spam folder or add them to your contacts.

If you don’t hear back this afternoon I would email them again and ask them to please confirm that they received the message and that you are on their waitlist.

    Alright, good news!

MM3 got back to me, and 24 hours after I got them my vehicle info, they sent over a recovery file.

With this file, I was able to get the ECM back to the state it was in before I stated anything or stock.

This also got the ECM into ‘Application Mode’.

I should note that the first attempt to load the recovery file failed at about 30%.

It wasn’t abnormally hot, but I tried the fridge trick and waited about 20 minutes.

Plugged it in immediately after, and it successfully installed the recovery file.

    Back to a running truck!

Better yet, right after that, I was able to successfully program my tunes into the ECM.

    Good to go!

I think that after going through this process, there were two things that probably would have made this whole process easier:

    1. The most important thing is to have your batteries charged to absolute maximum.

If they aren’t both completely topped off, even with a small charger attached, this process won’t work.

    2. The temperature of the MM3 itself really does need to be chilled.

Even at a temperature outside of about 70F, it has major issues talking with the ECM.

Thanks again to the mods here for all the help.

Also, big thanks to MM3 for getting this resolved in a timely fashion.

    You guys rock!
