My G360 in the 1993 W250 was making a knocking grinding sound in neutral with the clutch out at idle.
If you increase RPM 150 - 200, the noise goes away.
I pulled the transmission and could hear a noise when the input shaft was turned back and forth.
There is one gear that seems to be looser than the rest; you can see it in this video:

I'm not sure if this is my problem or if this is normal.
