    High Pitched Whirring Sound?

Lately I've noticed a high-pitched whirring sound coming from the engine compartment, it only seems to happen when the truck is first warming up or at least is less noticeable after being driven for a while.

I wanted to check and make sure it wasn't indicative of a larger issue, based on the sound in the below video, I'm thinking it might just be the drive belt?

Given that it's just drive belt, does the squeakiness call for a replacement?

I doubt I've ever done it and am wondering about the extreme cold/heat here in Texas if it might be time for a replacement.

It’s very faint but does sound like the belt.

Since you don’t know when or if it’s been replaced and for your peace of mind, I would go ahead and replace it.

That being said, the belt replacement should be pretty straightforward, but I read things online about also replacing the tensioner or other things while I'm in there?

Can I just replace the belt, or do I have to replace other components as well?

I would start with the belt. It didn’t sound that bad, but do check the tensioner for any play, rough spots, or bearing issues along with the other drive accessories while the belt is removed.

The belt is definitely not straightforward, or I’m just special like E.

Check your water pump bolt after it’s warmed up, turn it off, and touch the bolt to see if it’s hot like before the truck engine is actually hot but warm enough for the sound to get quieter I went threw 3 water pumps in 60k.

Miles on my 2012, always sounded the same before my water pump went out.

If you're replacing the belt, opt in for the green belt.

It's stronger than the black OEM.
