    Not quite .060 - .021 on the 6.7 and .060 - .015 on the 5.9 for the intake
    .015 - .034 on the 6.7 and .015 - .030 on the 5.9 for the exhaust.

I think they run the 5.9 tighter because it runs cooler, the 6.7 with all the crap removed should also run cooler....do you agree?
I was thinking .012 intake and maybe .025 exhaust....or do you think that's too wide when running full delete?
I am running an economy tune in my RaceMe for now, but will run the tow tune with my 6500# trailer.
I appreciate your opinion as you have been doing this much longer than I have.....my background is in helicopters not diesels.

    YES IT WILL

THE MAX SPECS ARE THE SAME. JUST ADD A COUPLE OF THOU ON EACH. LEAVING THEM A TAD LOSE WILL HELP FUEL ECONOMY.

DON'T KNOW THE RACEME SO YOU'LL HAVE TO PUNT

Most folks will say that Cummins says .010 intake and .026 exhaust valve lash on a 6.7. That will work fine. However some folks go by the 5.9 said specs of .010 intake and .020 exhaust lash. I use the 5.9 spec on deleted 6.7s. It usually will be a tad quieter when the engine is cold. It does seem logical for a deleted 6.7 to use a tighter spec on the exhaust side since the heat generating Regen cycle is no longer present.
Going back to the tapping noise on some newer trucks...some folks say the CP3 will tick ever so slightly due to its own harmonics in relation to the gear drive on the front of the engine.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, but what is a CP3? This may be what I'm hearing.

Yes there have been a number of diesel engines over the years. I worked on turbines myself, a slightly different animal.

The CP3 is the high pressure fuel pump on the driver's side front of your engine. It is the heart of our 6.7 engine's fuel injection system.

So this can make a noise that sounds similar to an out of adjustment tappet? Is it anything to worry about, or is it normal? And thanks for the help bye way.....it's appreciated?

I think I will still do a valve lash adjustment because of the engine being deleted and I will probably do .010" and .022", that should be safe and a little quieter than it is now.
    Any comments or observations?

I'm running 5.9 spec on my deleted 09. And have that CP3 tick. Easy way to tell is just to listen. If it's valves it'll be same sound up by drivers door walking around the front to passenger door. With CP3 it's loudest next to it up by drivers headlight. Mine can only really be heard right there.
And it is normal some are just louder than others. Mine was a lot quieter until I opened up the valves inside.

Then I'm pretty sure it's the CP3, but I'm going get the stethoscope out and locate the exact source. I'm still going to do the valve lash, just for peace of mind.

Thanks to all for the good information, this is a great forum with lots of experience!!
