Talking Smarty touch, good or bad?

Hi guys, I'm new here on this forum and I'm fairly new to the diesel world. I have an 06 cummins, short bed manual leveled on 35s. I'm looking to chip it, but I'm not sure to go with the banks six gun, or the smarty touch? Have any of you had any experience with the smarty? No arguments please, just looking for simple information, that's all.

I had the Banks 6 gun when they 1st brought it out on another truck I owned. As for my personal experience, I considered it a waste of money. It was installed professionally and after following instructions I tried it in every setting it had. It was like driving in stock mode the entire time. After almost a year, I found a guy who wanted to buy it and was gald to get rid of it.

I do own the Smarty PoD for my year and I'm happy with it. It's nothing like the Smarty Touch, but Smarty gives me what they said it would.

dont get a banks, I also had a banks 6 gun that came with the truck. was cool having the screen, but sold it for the smarty s06. and got gauges. I would love the smarty touch! but if you want the best bang for your buck, Id get the RaceMe touch from @Double R Diesel

custom tunes, and the same screen that the smarty touch offers from what i understand. hope that tag worked double R!

Yeah what they said. Banks is way over rated for the money. They tend to defy the laws of physics. You might want to consider EFI Live or a RaceMe. From years of following these tuners and doing some Beta. My experience is the Smarty works very well in pre CanBuss systems. For gauges, go to the Edge CTS. Ray can help you or Dales @Double R Diesel LLC

We ask you use our sponsoring vendors.

When I first joined this site, I was reading about the RaceMe units. But when I went to Dales site, they don't have it for the 2006 he has, (I also have an '06).
They only have a BullyDog, H&S and PPEI selection for his truck. So I guess RaceMe doesn't cover our trucks.
So I'd suggest the Smarty, they have been good for Cummins for a very long time.
(it's just the damn prices of these units that gets me).

Have any of you ever had reliability issues with the smartys? That's the reason I like the banks is because of the fail safes.. but now that you mention it, the 6 gun isn't all that badass. Mines stock and I'm not much slower than my buddy with his 6 gun, banks water meth, 5 inch exhaust, and fass 150..

We have been tuning with EFILive since 2007. Tuning the Cummins with EFILive since it was released as a BETA tester in 2011. Banks or a smarty(raceme rebranded smarty) does not hold a candle to our EFILive.
