    Smarty S03

I just purchased a Smarty S03 for my '99 Dodge Ram 2500 24v.. I'm new to programmers, as well as this being my first personal diesel vehicle. Is it safe to run the Smarty at level 9 constantly as long as I keep my foot out of it for the majority of the time? What kind of fuel mileage am I going to see on level 9 if I do keep my foot out of it? After doing some researching, I've found some guys saying that when they kept their foot out of it, they had better fuel mileage out of level 9 than they did on the level 2 fuel saver setting. I'm just not sure how true that is. My '99 is an automatic, all stock other than a Fass 150 Titanium series, S&B cold air intake and a 4' turbo back straight pipe. Supposedly, according to the guy I purchased it from, the transmission was rebuilt and should have around 50k on it.. How true that is, I'm not really sure, but it does seem to shift pretty damn well so I can believe it to be true. The Smarty has the REVO update, should I go through and mess with any of the other settings, or should I just wait until I have done more upgrades to the truck before I get into all of that?

Thanks in advance for any help!

@Keenan14, the Smarty for your truck is one of the better units out there, for the older trucks ... but this is my personal feelings. I'd suggest not running it over SW5 with a stock truck, and still keep your foot out of it. When running it stock and lots more power, the weak points, like the trans, can let you down. I'm like many, more is better, but more can also cost you more than you think if your truck isn't built for it.

I'd suggest looking into the website .. http://www.smartyresource.net/forum/ ... and becoming a member. There is way more knowledge there with people like @BrianAtSmarty helping you understand that unit.

But never leave this site, there are people here that have knowledge to draw from that will help you enjoy your truck, get more out of it and have it run great for years to come.

Well you are only going to get 60hp from the smarty even with the revo updates, so As long as you are not romping around you should be fine on level 9. If I remember correctly there is a feature on the S-03 to control the torque curve especially for Automatics so that might help you.

Either way before you do go to Level 9 I would Change the Fluid and adjust the bands in that auto. You are going to love that smarty! Especially the high idle mode.
