    4th gen engine block heater?

just trying to find the engine block heater cord-thingy since its starting to get a little cold...i cant find any solid answers/pictures between the owner's manual and here on the fourm. and im almost 100% the cord should be installed since i live in NJ and have the snow plow prep group and the cold weather package.

anyone with a 4th gen know where its located? (passenger side by the headlight??? - not sure)

Same as 5.9 under a little forward of the turbo, if there is not a cord it will have a black cap on it

It is about 3 inches behind the oil filter on a 6.7l, almost have to remove air filter tube to turbo to see it clearly. It may not have the cord(mine did not) but you can find them online. I bought mine from geno's garage. I never use the cord till its 0 degrees Fahrenheit and I never have a problem starting, it starts just fine. I have even started at -15 with no problems other than its a little slow to turn over.

how long do you normally let your truck warm up before you take off? i figure to plug it in to decrease the time to let her sit before i leave my house or wherever i am

I run mine maybe 5 min tops. It gains engine heat alot quicker going down the road with the added load. I just drive like a grandpa till it warms up.

Warm up? What's that? I wait for the Oil pressure, check gauges, Drive it. I just don't do the 1/4 mile in the first 10 minutes.

As said, it warms up allot faster driving it. I don't "grampa" (Even though I am one) it, but I can't go too fast initially anyway.

All that warm up time is a fallacy. As long as she's hitting on all 6, just go. Don't hammer it for a minute or two. Unless you are warming it up for you. . . . You're wasting fuel otherwise

The only thing that happens is the oil pressure is high for a few minutes. Other than that. . .

the plug in does help of coarse cause its keeping yur coolant from freezing,,up here in canada plug in is mandatory unless u have a espar or webasto heater..

my old 6.7 wouldnt shift into 6th unless the tranny oil was at least 58* when it was first start up,,unless u dont have a DPF let her warm up as long as u like ,,hit the high idle on yur steering wheel ,,and let warm up for 20 min if its like in the -10-20 days ,,and thats celcius
