why do you want to smoke? That is part of the reason the EPA is getting into the diesels now more than before. No as for more speed.

    Fuel plate
    Govenor spring
    air intake
    better flowing exhaust

Focuse on one or the other. Just making smoke is bad for the engine and toy are opening yourself up to trouble with the law. They are nationally cracking down on excessive smoke.

And you also have to choose power as in pulling or speed for racing. Example my truck is a pulling powerhouse so to speak. Max speed of 74mph, but will pull anything at that speed. I still have 0 smoke at the exhaust. smoke reduces life of some engine components, and kills sensors. I have seen a 12V truck with 600HP that only has a slight haze at the exhaust. the best running diesels are the cleanest running diesels. The exception to that rule is the guys running really hardcore drag trucks and pull trucks that actually utilize some extra fuel to moderate temperatures of the engine

Smoke is unburnt fuel and lost energy, diesels require heat(energy) to work more efficiently, not to mention smoking is a pretty stupid thing to do for no reason, it's not cool it actually makes alot of people frown upon the diesel Motorsports. If your going to do it right, shave the plate, get a bigger turbo, time the ip and time the camshaft (retard it)
