A few notes that others who are considering the same thing(s) might find helpful:
-the toolboxes on the shell are wider than we expected. You can see just how wide in the pics. They extend into the bed, width wise, about 3" past the wheel well. Might pose a problem for those who have wider, taller stuff to haul.
-I opted for the fold down front window. I wish the sales guy would have asked me WTF I was thinking, because the boxes stop the window from folding down more than a few inches (after install we both looked at it and realized the goof. First time someone ordered this particular shell this particular way. He knows better now.) Still enough to squeeze your hand in there to clean it, but had I realized that, I'd have saved the coin and passed on the folding option
-I had the AMP bed extender... I say 'had' because it's a no go for folding inward with the shell installed. It hits the shell and aint going in. Still good to have to extend the bed, but as a cargo management solution when folded inward, its a fail.
-the ARE color match for my paint code (PAR) isn't exactly right. I only notice it in full bright overhead sunlight, but in that lighting its clearly different. Enough for me to care, take it off, send it back and have them respray? TBD...
-I chose to install the Tuffy without the OEM removable bin installed. Mine rattled a bit, so removing it allowed me to cinch down on the mounting bolts a hair more, and the rattle is gone.
-to mount the Escort, I used a BlendMount (
https://goo.gl/05y9F4). Not the cheapest by far, but definitely worth the cost given the zero rattling and movement once installed correctly. I did have to remove the center arm it comes with to get the Escort as high as you see, but that was a quick easy thing to do.
-to wire the Escort, I used a MirrorTap kit (
https://goo.gl/C6z5Iv). I'm glad I ponyed up for the combo kit, because I ended up having to use the smallest pins. Didn't know that going in.
-to wire the SpyTec dash cam, I came off the same two wires I used for the Escort, and used POSI-TAPs (
https://goo.gl/uNJjRx) and the hard wire kit (
https://goo.gl/yNzmCe). Works a treat.
-for the HitchSafe, I had to add their Toyota Tacoma extenders (
https://goo.gl/4ipDlv). Works just fine with those.
Otherwise, everything else was pretty straight forward. Some of this stuff, ya just gotta chalk up to living and learning... or reading posts like this, first
