    Compound turbos on a 6.7

I have been reading a lot about the pros and cons on doing compound turbos. Leaving the stock turbo on it to still have the brake. Different articles saying you have to do engine mods or you don't. Hard to get an exact answer when dealing with different people. So my question is has anyone really done the research on it or installed compound turbos on there 6.7?

i guess the ultimate decision will be how you use your truck if compound turbos will work or not. If anyone has any good info on it, please let me know.

Using stock works just fine if you want to save money and it's in good condition. If you want to upgrade it no harm there either

There's companies that make aftermarket exhaust brakes like BD if you want to replace your factory. Or you have to because of swapping to a turbo that requires it. If you want the brake

There's components required which are in compound setups already to get you going

2 things to look into are tuning and studs

More boost/power you'd be best to have someone tune you properly. And studs to keep the head from lifting

Studs and tuning are 2 things I wouldn't do compounds without. also monitor with EGT and of course the weak link, prepare for a transmission in the future

yeah, after reading a few articles on it, people use the stock turbo and then use a aftermarket one. With using the stock you get the brake. I wish I remembered what site I saw a complete kit with it. It has all the engine components needed to stiffen up the motor to handle it. Like the above, said it will be a matter of time before you will have to mess with the transmission. I was just wondering if anyone has really did some research on it or actually is thinking about compound turbos. Which doesnt sound like a bad deal, one turbo for the low end while the 2nd turbo for the high end.

I've looked at a larger drop in
    The 2nd gen swap
    And compound set up

A brake can be installed on all set ups if needed or wanted. With a heavy load on the truck it's a nice thing to have

For what my needs are I've looked more into the compounds. Using a larger single drop in would give me some of the advantages I'm looking for to along with being quite a bit cheaper and a easier install. The compound gives a better all around for tow/power for what I personally need though

Doing the compound setup I was looking at a complete kit including replacing stock though. For a couple reasons. One it would give me a slightly larger than stock the other it would be new rather than the 92k mile factory

Is there any significant advantage of having a second generation manifold with a compound set up? And is it worth it?

    On a 2nd gen manifold?
The idea of a 2nd gen swap generally is to equalize the pressure

I'd imagine someone has done a 2nd gen swap and run compounds but I'm not sure. Space is tight on the newer trucks

From what I hear hardway will modify the kit for a second gen manifold
