Black smoke during normal driving conditions...

I bought my tuck a few months back, my first diesel. Had tuner ripped out of it. Tons of mods done still. Just wondering if it was normal to have small amounts of black smoke coming out of exhaust while accelerating almost everywhere I go!?

What's the info on the truck bud? What kind of mods do you know of that are still on and or done to It?

I'm wondering also if the tune may still be possibly left on there depending what kind of tuner it was.

Well the ones I know of since I wasn't knowledgeable when I bought the truck. Pretty sure different injectors recently put on. Bigger turbo with full 5 inch exhaust. Cold air intake. Has the egt prob still stuck in manifold. Others hard to tell... any info greatly appreciated

If it indeed has any aftermarket injectors that are larger then stock then you will see some smoke if not a steady haze while accelerating.
The bigger turbo will definitely aid in being a little smokey.

It's most definitely normal. Depending on the size of injectors and turbo used, you are now pushing more fuel and more then likely the turbo is bigger then the stock one so it will take a little more time to spool up which until it does you will have some smoke.

Is the smoke really bad? Or is it just a steady light cloud?

More of a steady light smoke when accelerating. When I get into it I can get ALOT to roll out. Not sure if it has a tune left on it. When I bought it they did pull codes had a bad wheel speed sensor. Not sure if that matters I heard they wouldn't be able to hook up to computer if it had a tune??? Also has either different transmission or rebuilt transmission its all black and has The letters JD in red on it in a couple places.

I'm not 100% certain on the dealer not being able to hook up to it with a tune on it if there is one. I am fairly positive that they can.

Someone definitely correct me if im wrong, but i think you can go to the dealer and have them reflash your ecm back to stock.

I can only speak for the 4th gens but dealerships have no issues hooking and communicating with the computer of my deleted and tuned truck. The 5.9s are going to smoke a bit anyway even completely stock. I would not have a dealer flash back to stock tune if the truck is otherwise running ok.
