Just wanted to share my recent experience with 2 screw on filter adapters I attempted to install along with my Revmax ultra low stall convertor, valve body and billet flex plate.
Those things have 2 different threads on each end. I tried to explain that to the guy at Revmax but I don't think he was getting it. I asked him if they had the same threads or different threads and he didn't know. (Which kind of surprised me honestly since He said he gets a dozen calls a week about these not fitting. ) He said some are just tight based on what vendor supplies the machined transmission case to Ram. I call B.S.. They aren't tight, they are entirey different threads. If I installed the adapter into my transmission using the end supposed to go into the filter, it threaded right in. If I spun it around it would not screw into the trans casing. Obviously 2 different thread pitches. I initially thought it wouldn't thread in due to a a burr I found on one of the first threads. (Which surprised me as well and not in a good way.) So I tried to clean up the burr with a little file. Still no go. Then of course I spun it around and realized it had different threads. Revmax sent a replacement very quickly which unfortunately had the same results.
So if they get this complaint all the time, why do they not know if the threads are different? Is it different year trucks that have different threads? The fix seems pretty simple. Make another adapter with identical threads on each end and problem solved. If someone calls and says the adapter doesn't fit, send the other one which I'm assuming is normal pipe threads and probably a 1 minute programming change to the CNC machine. No way am I going to strip out my casing for a $29 part!
